Draycott in Bloom

Big celebration last night (13th Sept) at the ‘Coach’ when it was announced that Draycott had again won a GOLD award in the ‘East Midlands in Bloom’ competition. Plus, we came 1st in the ‘Small Towns' category beating the six-time winners, Uppingham. Plus, Mapleton Road received a special Judges award for ‘The colourful front gardens in Mapleton Road’ Plus, The Coach and Horse won a Silver award in the Attractiveness of Planting category Plus, The Courtyard, Draycott Mill, won a 'Certificate of Achievement' in the Attractiveness of Planting category. Well done all you Dibbers and well done Draycott.

New business in the village.

Proposed Village Sign

Proposed new Draycott village sign has now been designed. Planning permission and negotiations with landowners is being sought for a central location in the village. Here is the proposed design. Lace - to mark the heritage of the lace mills. The church of St. Chad’s. Victoria Mill’s clock tower. flower and tree to celebrate Draycott in Bloom. and of course, donkeys, because we are, after all, ‘Neddy Town’

The site  of the A.Burnet factory on Walter Street, is being redeveloped into nine, two bedroomed homes. Building work is now in progress
