Draycott in Bloom

After the great success in 2017. It has been announced that the village of Draycott in Derbyshire is a 2018 RHS Britain in Bloom finalist . Britain in Bloom is a nationwide campaign intended to encourage and celebrate the positive impact of gardening in communities. Draycott in Bloom is a volunteer group with members ranging from 8 to 80 years of age. 3000 plants raised by the group will be planted out around the village at the end of May to give a spectacular summer display. Draycott entered the competition for the first time in 2014 gaining a Silver Gilt Award in 2014 & 2015, followed by a Gold Award in 2016 and 2017. The regional judges will visit Draycott in early July and be followed by the national judges in early August.

Proposed Village Sign

Proposed new Draycott village sign has now been designed. Planning permission and negotiations with landowners is being sought for a central location in the village. Here is the proposed design. Lace - to mark the heritage of the lace mills. The church of St. Chad’s. Victoria Mill’s clock tower. flower and tree to celebrate Draycott in Bloom. and of course, donkeys, because we are, after all, ‘Neddy Town’
